Christmas Pageant –  Celebrate Christmas with the traditional pageant. Mary, Joseph and all the angels and animals will be there.

Shrove Tuesday Mardi Gras Pancake Supper –  Pancakes, sausages, games and a Mardi Gras king and queen!

Ascension Day Birthday Party – We celebrate the name day of our church with great food and fun and a service of Holy Eucharist.

Parish Picnic – At the beginning of summer, bring a picnic and come to Bohrer Park for Sunday worship, food, games and conversation.

Small Groups 

Ascension has a number of groups that meet for social, outreach, spiritual or educational activities. Connecting with a group can make a big church feel small, and can provide you with an opportunity to make friends and support one another.

Men’s Group – Men of the parish meet for fellowship, fun and service projects. Call Seamus Welsh at 301-963-3951.

Wednesday Morning Study Group – Read a book, study the Bible, ask honest questions with this multi-age group, every Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

Softball Teams – Two men’s softball teams play in the church league in late spring into summer on Monday or Tuesday nights. Call John Shaer at 301-869-1394.

Episcopal Church Women (ECW) – Monthly gatherings of Ascension women for fellowship and sharing.  All parish women are automatically members of the ECW.  Call Peg Ruppel at 301-963-1605 for more information.

Dinner Groups – Ascension periodically forms dinner groups for couples and individuals interested in socializing with other parishioners in small groups. Contact Lauren Kingsland for information. click here for a picture!

Souper Seniors at Asbury – Asbury Episcopalians meet for lunch and a chance to learn about a topic of interest on the third Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. in the cafe of the Kindley Building at Asbury. Call Beth O'Callaghan at 301-948-0122, ext. 16.

Education for Ministry Classes – Ascension offers this enlightening four-year course in theology and the Bible. But it’s more than a class, it builds a community through shared meals and prayer. Call Clerene Romeo-Jackson at 301-977-5038.

Cancer Support Group – Meets the first Thursday of each month for a brown bag lunch at 12:00 p.m. for discussion, fellowship and prayer among those living with cancer and those who love them. Contact Beth O'Callaghan at 301-948-0122, ext 16.
