Christian Formation – For continued development of faith of our young people, Christian Formation Classes for Junior and Senior High youth are held during the program year on Sunday morning from 10:10-10:50 a.m.
Youth Group – Junior High and Senior High students meet the second and fourth Sundays of each month from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. They gather for discussions, videos, service projects, snacks, games and much more.
Lock-Ins – Lock Ins strengthen the community of Ascension youth. We play games, eat, watch movies, and even sleep a little.
Cathedral Lock-In – Sleep in the Nave! Youth from all over the Diocese of Washington gather at the National Cathedral for a night of exploring their faith and this massive building. Games, music, crafts, movies, discussion, meeting new people, and catching up with old friends make this an event you don’t want to miss.
Diocesan Youth Retreat – Spend the weekend at Camp Letts with other Diocesan Youth!
Confirmation – Youth age 15 and up can explore their faith and consider confirmation in the yearlong confirmation class offered at the same time as Christian Formation. All those confirmed in November will participate in the “Now what?” retreat held the second weekend in December where they will discover and discuss how they will live out their baptismal covenant as adults. Confirmation class will continue past confirmation to support the youth as they take on responsibility for their continued formation.
Summer Work Camps – Each summer, Junior and Senior High youth travel to various areas of the country to repair homes while building lifetime spiritual experiences through hard work and fellowship. This is a great way to earn community service hours for school. Our upcoming 2010 work camp will be taking place in New York City on the dates of June 27 to July 3, 2010.
Service Projects – Young people can participate in various service projects throughout the year, including serving at the Lord’s Table on the first Friday of the month, church and community clean up days, our Christmas Outreach Project, and other projects.
