Children are welcome here. Ascension believes in its children – in their innocence, in their energy, the joy they bring with them, their spirit of wonder, and the honesty in their questions. We believe that along with the adults of this parish, children have an equal place at the table in God’s house.

Nursery – A cooperative nursery operates during all three services on Sunday morning for children ages two and under. A loving nursery aide is in charge of the nursery, and is assisted by volunteers every week. Parents using the nursery (and any other willing adults or teens) are asked to volunteer occasionally.

Children’s Curriculum – We use the Rotation Model curriculum,  Children have fun exploring the Bible with many activities including: creative artwork, crafts, food and science activities and games. 

Curriculum Enhancers – In addition to the written curriculum, the children take part in many other activities that enhance their Sunday morning experience, such as occassional field trips and performing in skits.

Worship for Families With Young Children – Preschool children and their families can worship together in a short Eucharist with story-style sermon and simple hymns even the youngest can sing. Join us Sundays at 10:15 a.m., in the Chapel.

Bread Making – Each Sunday School class takes a turn making bread to be used for Communion. The children learn about Communion and have a great time mixing, kneading and sampling the bread.

Children’s Music - Music is an important part of our worship and education; Christian songs and music are incorporated throughout our program. A children's choir sings at Christmas and Easter. 

Vacation Bible School - For a week every summer children come to Ascension to learn more about Jesus and being a Christian, and to pray and sing together.

12th Night Epiphany Pageant - Ascension's children retell the story of hte birth of Jesus, with participation by all, as the Holy Familiy, the Wise Ones, King Herod, and a multitude of angels, animals and shepheres. A fun-filled pizza party follows the pageant.
