I've heard of churches having support groups for Life threatening illnesses rather than just for cancer. Maybe there are already too many cancer people in the group. But there may be people with other illnesses just as serious that might appreciate the group. I don't know if this is the case, nor if the content of the group is so specific to cancer (chemo, radiation, etc) that it wouldn't make sense to mix and match. But I thougth I'd pass this along. You don't need to comment -- and since I don't have cancer or a life-threatening illness, I'm not the one whose opinion really matters in this!

Rev. Beth has touched on what we think is the central message of Jesus. To reach out to "the least of these," even at personal cost, and in so doing, to make a difference beyond that one person into the wider world.

As always, she brings scripture into our own lives that we might know what we are truly asked to do.

great sermon! Sorry I missed it. We have learned to limit our activities at Christmas to keep sane, but it's still good to be able to hear the sermon!

Give me faith in your love, faith in our friends and family, and faith in our communities. Help me to feel compassion for all your children on this earth.

Lord, help me to serve you through your community at Ascension, to make it a beacon of light, a place of refuge for those in need, an open door for seekers, a place of thoughtful seeking and finding. Amen.
